We can all do things to help pass the torch on to others by sharing resources to draw newcomers into the world of glass art.

Elk
Design by Robert Ody
A 12" x 17-7/8" panel for advanced artists. Carefully selecting areas for cutting the glass to match the pattern helps to add a painterly effect to the panel, and layering it provides more depth to the scene. The herringbone ripple used for the conifers, in particular, adds realism to the trees. Copper foil overlay is used for adding detailing to the elk. This project was constructed using the copper foil technique.

Fused Aspen Trees
Design by Judi Hartman
Three 3" x 8" seasonal fused panels representing spring, fall, and winter. The aspen trees are created using frit colors that are purchased and also created from scrap glass. Black stringer helps to add details to the tree bark. Clear tabs are added to the panels so they can be joined together after completion if desired.

Leafy Garden Tiles
Design by Carol Giffin
Two 4"-square plus one 1-1/2" x 8-1/2" rectangular tiles. Painted details are used to highlight the veins in real, leathery leaves, such as ivy or ferns, which are then placed between opalescent and clear glass pieces and fused together. The tiles can be used as coasters, framed for wall hangings, or used to finish the edge of backsplash tiles.

Mosaic Guitar
Design by Donna Wold
A 13" x 38-1/2" free-form glass mosaic guitar panel. The precut guitar form from Creator’s Stained Glass is covered with tesserae that were made from colored and mirrored glass using the Beetle Bits Cutting System. Tuning pegs on top of the guitar neck are formed from polymer clay and attached with metal rods.

Nativity Christmas Candleholder
Design by Csaba Osvath

Included in this beginner how-to are easy-to-follow instructions for keeping the panels square, marking patterns to make matching the glass to the pattern easier, and getting professional results when applying with the solder. This project was constructed using the copper foil technique.

A 29-1/2" x 29-1/2" geometric panel. An amoeba-like central design is decorated using a multitude of glass nuggets to give the project added interest. Suggestions are given for ways to map the position of the nuggets before gluing by making a rubbing of the design. Red sculptural clay is used to create a “corral” to keep the nuggets in place while making the panel. This project was constructed using the copper foil technique.

Stained Glass Christmas Tree
Design by Nonnie Lyketsos
A 3-5/8" x 3-5/8" x 7-1/2" stained glass tree. This three-dimensional, pyramid-shaped tree is constructed by applying caulk with cake decorating bags and tips to assemble the glass tree pieces and to add the glass candy, nugget, and piped decorations. The tree is mounted on a wooden base, which is completed with the addition of purchased wooden feet.
